evaporative coolers
Evaporative coolers are highly susceptible to the formation of crust and scale, and the growth of foul-smelling organisms. The photo at upper right shows a common situation - the media pad and frame are heavily encrusted with salts that prevent air flow, reducing cooling efficiency and increasing energy costs. Left unchecked, these accumulations promote rapid corrosion of the media frames and the cooler box, and expensive maintenance or replacement.
The close-up photo of the same type of cooler at lower right shows little crust or scale, air passages clear of obstructions, and no corrosion of the metal parts. The sump water in Zeta Rod-treated systems remains clear of biological growth, and prevents the development of the "swampy" smell associated with this type of cooling system. |
