enhanced cooling tower performance with the Zeta Rod
corrosion coupons
All cooling water systems should be equipped with corrosion coupons and these coupons should be sent in for analysis on a regular quarterly basis. Most coupon racks allow for exposure of coupons representing the different alloys in the system. After a prescribed period of exposure, coupons are removed and fresh coupons inserted in their place. A regular rotation of coupons produces a continuous record of the system condition. One well recognized laboratory-supplying coupons and analytical service is:

Zeta Rod-equipped systems with properly-installed corrosion coupon systems typically show corrosion rates well below industry standards. Benefits of the Zeta Rod system in minimizing system corrosion include:
- No requirement for addition of corrosive acids or expensive chemical descalants - the Zeta Rod stabilizes dispersion of even high concentrations of scale-forming solids in water, preventing them from nucleating in the water or being deposited on wetted surfaces.
- Operation at higher cycles of concentration (lower blow-down) than chemical treatment systems means higher pH and therefore generally lower corrosion rates.
- Improved protection against attachment of particulates to metal components reduces chances for galvanic corrosion.
